Story / Background

Story / Background

Design has been my way of making sense of both structure and expression. From early studio projects to real-world brand collaborations, I’ve learned that every brief carries a question — and my role is to shape an answer that feels inevitable. My background in graphic design grounds me in systems thinking, but I never treat style as fixed. Each project is a conversation between vision, function, and craft.

My path as a creative started long before design school — really, it began in childhood. I wouldn’t say I was “born to create,” because I believe in John Locke’s concept of tabula rasa: that we are shaped by experience. For me, creativity was a natural response to the struggles and pains of life. It gave me both a sense of control and a form of emotional freedom. Drawing was my most accessible outlet, and I used it to make the things I liked, the things I wanted, and the things I felt.

In high school, I was accepted into the interdisciplinary art program, which exposed me to a wide array of mediums. That’s where I discovered the beauty of combining rough, loose fountain pen strokes with light, airy watercolor — creating a sense of radical balance between chaos and calm.

After graduation, I chose to pursue graphic design. At first, I was confused: if I had always been creative, why was this suddenly hard? But I realized that design is a different kind of creative expression than art. Art creates to ask questions, while design creates to give precise answers. That shift — from questioning to answering — was transformative, and it’s why I continue to push myself in this field today.

Philosophy / Approach

Philosophy / Approach

I don’t design in a vacuum. I listen, research, and translate the client’s vision into form. Sometimes that means leaning into minimalism and modernity, other times embracing texture, warmth, or bold surrealism. My process balances hands-on craft and digital innovation, weaving traditional design principles with experimental techniques — whether that’s AI-driven workflows, generative layouts, or tactile, handmade touches.

Personal Note

Personal Note

Outside of the screen, I’m often on the court (basketball), the course (golf), or chasing the same sense of flow in sketchbooks and illustration. I draw from those experiences — movement, rhythm, and focus — to bring depth and honesty into my work.

My Design Qualities

I direct AI with intent.
Where this matters: image/motion generation, exploration, and production assets.
What I do: set constraints, iterate methodically, and lock repeatable recipes.
Why it matters: outputs are consistent, on-brand, and actually usable.
I build systems, not band-aids.
Where this matters: across identities, websites, packaging, and content.
What I do: map the parts, define patterns and naming, and design reusable structures.
Why it matters: work stays consistent, updates are fast, and everything scales without rework.
I learn fast so I can ship what I imagine.
Where this matters: new tools, formats, and production methods.
What I do: self-teach, build working versions, and iterate in the open.
Why it matters: ideas become real products instead of staying on slides.
I design interactions that hold up in real life.
Where this matters: any touchpoint—site flows, motion, product handling, print usage.
What I do: prototype quickly, test with real constraints, and refine until it feels effortless.
Why it matters: the experience matches the promise and builds trust.
I make aesthetics do a job.
Where this matters: brand voice, layouts, packaging, and motion.
What I do: use type, color, composition, and pacing to clarify message and guide action.
Why it matters: the work is memorable because it’s useful and persuasive.
I keep presentations production-true.
Where this matters: comps, prototypes, and proofs across digital and print.
What I do: model real materials, proportions, accessibility, and output specs.
Why it matters: expectations match reality; fewer surprises at launch.
I edit for instant clarity.
Where this matters: headlines, hero visuals, layouts, and product messaging.
What I do: reduce noise, choose sharper metaphors, and prioritize what must be seen first.
Why it matters: attention isn’t wasted, and meaning lands immediately.
I turn one-off wins into playbooks.
Where this matters: components, file prep, naming, and team handoffs.
What I do: document decisions and steps so quality becomes routine.
Why it matters: momentum compounds and projects move faster with fewer errors.
I protect the last mile.
Where this matters: launches, print runs, and live site updates.
What I do: verify usability, links/flows, readability, color, and compression before release.
Why it matters: the work performs outside of screenshots and mockups.
I practice minimalism with warmth.
Where this matters: interfaces, packaging, editorial, and brand systems.
What I do: pair clean structure with tactile cues—texture, light, pacing.
Why it matters: clarity without sterility; modern and human at once.
I automate the repetitive.
Where this matters: asset prep, exports, content updates, and research.
What I do: connect tools and scripts to remove manual steps.
Why it matters: fewer mistakes, more time for high-value decisions.
I communicate like a partner.
Where this matters: client work, collaborators, vendors, and stakeholders.
What I do: share the plan, milestones, risks, and rationale—and keep everyone aligned.
Why it matters: smoother approvals, clearer budgets, and less rework.
I design for outcomes.
Where this matters: sign-ups, sales, comprehension, and behavior change.
What I do: define success up front, measure, and iterate toward it.
So the work doesn’t just look good—it moves the metric it was hired to move.
I stay calm and ship.
Where this matters: tight timelines, changing scope, and unexpected issues.
What I do: isolate root causes quickly, resolve decisively, and document prevention.
Why it matters: momentum stays steady and reliability becomes part of the brand.
